How to Install Two BBM Applications on Your Android Smartphone

BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) is a popular instant messaging application that provides secure and reliable messaging services. Although it was originally developed for BlackBerry devices, BBM is now available for other platforms, including Android. In some cases, users might want to install more than one BBM application on their Android smartphones. This blog post will guide you through the process of installing two BBM applications on your Android device.

Prerequisites

  1. Ensure that your Android device meets the minimum system requirements for running BBM.
  2. Check if your carrier supports BBM services. Some carriers may restrict or limit certain features due to network policies.
  3. Create a backup of your data as installing multiple instances of the same app might cause conflicts and result in data loss.

Installing BBM App

  1. Go to the Google Play Store on your Android device.
  2. Search for "BBM" using the search bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap on the "BBM" app developed by BlackBerry Limited and click on the "Install" button.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.
  5. Launch the BBM app after installation is complete, sign in or create a new account if you don't have one already.

Installing Second BB M Application (BBM for Enterprise)

In some cases, organizations may provide their employees with a separate enterprise version of the BBM application. If you need to install this version on your Android device, follow these steps:

  1. Go back to the Google Play Store and search for "BBM for Enterprise."
  2. Tap on the app developed by BlackBerry Limited and click on the "Install" button.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.
  4. Launch the "BBM for Enterprise" app after installation is complete, sign in or create a new account if you don't have one already.

Managing Multiple BBM Instances

Now that you have both applications installed, managing them can be a bit tricky. To switch between the two apps:

  1. Press and hold the "BBM" app icon on your home screen or in the app drawer.
  2. Tap on the "App info" option that appears.
  3. In the App info screen, tap on "Force stop," then press the back button to go back.
  4. Long-press on the BBM app icon again and select the alternative app version (BBM or BBM for Enterprise) from the popup menu.
  5. Launch the selected BBM application to start using it.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues while installing or managing multiple BBM applications on your Android device, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure that your device is connected to a stable internet connection during installation.
  2. Check for updates for both apps in the Google Play Store.
  3. Clear the cache and data of both BB M applications using the App info screen.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall both applications if necessary.
  5. Contact BlackBerry Support or your carrier's customer service for further assistance if issues persist.
