How to Transfer an Android Application via Bluetooth

Transferring files over Bluetooth is a common feature used by many devices, including smartphones and computers. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of transferring an Android application from one device to another using Bluetooth.

Prerequisites

Before we start, make sure both devices meet the following requirements:

  1. Have Bluetooth enabled.
  2. Are connected to each other via Bluetooth. To do this:
    • On Source Device: Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. Your device will automatically search for nearby devices. Once you see the target device in the list, tap it to connect.
    • On Target Device: Similarly, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. The device should automatically detect the source device. If not, tap "Scan" to find available devices and then select the source device to connect.

Transferring the Application APK File

Now that both devices are connected via Bluetooth, follow these steps to transfer an Android application:

  1. On the Source Device: Locate the application APK file you want to transfer on your device. This could be in your internal storage or a microSD card.
  2. Long press on the APK file until you see options appearing at the top of the screen. Tap on "Share" and then select "Bluetooth." A list of nearby devices will appear.
  3. Select the Target Device from the list to start the transfer process. You may need to enter a confirmation code displayed on both devices before the transfer can begin.
  4. Once the transfer is complete, you should receive a notification on the Target Device confirming that the file has been received.
  5. Go to the "Downloads" folder on your Target Device and check if the APK file has been transferred successfully.

Installing the Transferred Application

  1. On the Target Device: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Special access > Install unknown apps and ensure that the Bluetooth file transfer is allowed to install apps from external sources.
  2. Locate the transferred APK file in your "Downloads" folder or wherever it might be and tap on it to begin the installation process. A prompt will appear asking for permission to install the app.
  3. Tap "Install" to confirm, then wait a few moments for the installation to complete. Once done, you can open the app by tapping its icon in your app drawer or home screen.
